Former Chiefs Star Lands Major Coaching Job

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana player, Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane, has taken a major step forward in his coaching career.

On Sunday, 31 August, Letsholonyane was officially unveiled as the new head coach of Botswana Premier League outfit, Matebele FC.

Photos circulating online show the 43-year-old ex-midfielder signing a contract and posing alongside Matebele’s team shirt.

Letsholonyane represented South Africa between 2008 and 2020; he also played for the likes of Amakhosi, SuperSport United and TS Galaxy. He eventually retired from the beautiful game in 2021 to pursue a career in coaching.

After earning a medley of coaching credentials – including a CAF A licence – he became a coach for AmaZulu FC’s U-17 team in 2023, and later managed their reserve DStv Diski Challenge team.

Additionally, Letsholonyane has worked as an assistant coach for the South African U-20 national team.

Here’s hoping Yeye can lift Matebele to new heights in the 2025/26 Botswana Premier League season, and perhaps add a little Mzansi flair to their playing style!
